Legionella

Technical expertise to assist client organisations in establishing detailed risk assessment for all site water systems and associated support.

Legionnaires disease is a severe pneumonia which can result from exposure to legionella bacteria found in building water systems. Infection is caused by breathing in small droplets of water contaminated by the bacteria. Anyone can get infected but those most at risk include elderly people, smokers and those suffering from respiratory ailments. The bacteria thrives at temperatures between 20°C and 45°C but is killed at higher temperatures.

It is your duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to put a scheme in place to control the growth and multiplication of legionella bacteria, in accordance with Legionnaires Disease Approved Code of Practice L8.

Qmis is able to consider all available options and assist our clients in implementing the most appropriate Legionella risk control programme for their particular location.
